Product Description:

MITEX Permethrin 5% w/v Lotion is a topical medicated solution containing Permethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid known for its potent insecticidal and acaricidal properties. It is specifically formulated to treat infestations caused by:

• Scabies (caused by Sarcoptes scabiei)
• Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis)
• Pubic lice (Pthirus pubis)

Permethrin works by disrupting the sodium channel current in nerve cell membranes of parasites, resulting in paralysis and death of the mite or louse.

Composition:

• Active Ingredient: Permethrin 5% w/v
• Base: Lotion base q.s.
• Pack Size: 100 ml plastic bottle with screw cap
• Appearance: Off-white to pale yellow lotion
• Odor: Mild medicinal scent

Indications:

• Scabies: For the treatment of scabies infestations in adults and children above 2 months of age.
• Lice: Can be used as an anti-lice treatment when diluted to a 1% concentration (see dilution method below).

Directions for Use:

For Scabies Treatment (5% Lotion – Undiluted Use):

1. Take a bath and dry the skin.
2. Apply the lotion uniformly over the entire body from the neck downwards.
3. Leave it on for 8–12 hours (overnight), then wash off with soap and water.
4. Repeat treatment after 7 days if necessary.
5. Do not apply on face or mucous membranes unless advised by a physician.

For Anti-Lice Treatment (Use as 1% Solution):

MITEX 5% lotion must be diluted to 1% before application for lice.

Dilution Instructions to Prepare 1% Solution:

To prepare 100 ml of 1% Permethrin solution from the 5% lotion:

• Take 20 ml of MITEX 5% Lotion
• Add 80 ml of purified water (or boiled and cooled water)

This gives you 100 ml of 1% Permethrin solution.

Mix thoroughly before use.

Anti-Lice Use (1% Solution) – Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. 1. Measure 20 ml of MITEX Permethrin 5% Lotion.

   2. Add 80 ml of clean water (boiled and cooled or purified).

   3. Mix well to prepare a 1% Permethrin solution.

   4. Apply the solution thoroughly to the scalp and hair, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck.

   5. Leave it on for 7 – 8 hours.

   6. Rinse off completely with water.

   7. Comb hair with a fine-toothed lice comb to remove dead lice and eggs.

   8. Repeat the treatment after 7 days if lice are still present.

• In case of irritation or rash, discontinue use and consult a physician.

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
